Our lone representatives at this years Foyle Cup were our Under 15 Premier team of last season who participated in the Under 16 age group.
Following their narrow 3-2 defeat on Friday night against Donegal Schoolboys League in the Foyle Cup Semi-final our squad made sure of 3rd place yesterday morning with an emphatic 4-0 win over Ballybrack Boys in the 3rd/4th place play-off thereby rounding-off a very successful week in this competition and it also served as a useful preparation for the DDSL season ahead.
Following the group stages they qualified for a quarter final meeting on Friday morning against Limerick at the Vale Centre. The first goal scored was always going to be a decisive factor in a game like this and luckily it went our way when Corey Franzoni converted a penalty following a foul on Conor McDonald and they held on to record a 1-0 win and progress to the semi final the same evening against the Donegal Schoolboys League.
Under the management of Elliott Morgan and Joe Byrne they had got off to a flying start with two wins and a draw in their three group games with a goal aggregrate of 9-0. On Tuesday at Prehan they accounted for Ballyclare Comrades on a 6-0 scoreline while on Wednesday evening they defeated Derry Colts 3-0 at Lisnagelvin. On Thursday they played The Inishowen League and drew 0-0 in what was their toughest group game and one which decided Group F winners.
