Following a very successful staging of two Under 15 International games at Shanowen Road on Friday afternoon it was back to business as usual over the weekend withfour more vital games up for decision.

After helping the DDSL retain the Cashin Cup on Saturday, Evan Osam, Jimmy Dunne, Shane Elworthy, Richie Purdy & Josh Clifford were back in action last night for our 12 Premier as they secured another three points with a 3-0 home win over Shelbourne F C in their bid to add the DDSL 12 Premier title to their SFAI Norton Cup Success.

It is good to see Thomas Tiernan making a good recovery from his broken leg and while he will be disappointed at missing out on the Cashin Cup final he will no doubt he will have had the satisfaction of playing his part in the earlier rounds.

On Sunday afternoon at Ward Cross our 18 Super reached the final of the Leinster Youths Cup by beating Belvedere F C 5-4 on penalties following a 1-1 draw after extra time.  Having fallen behind to a Sean Skelly free kick after twenty five minutes they recovered well to dominate the remainder of the game and could have been on level terms by half time but Chris McMahon’s goal bound strike struck the post and rebounded to safety, however twenty minutes into the second half he made no mistake with a volley that gave the Belvedere keeper absolutely no chance of saving and shortly afterwards Karl Young struck the post with the goalkeeper beaten following a splendid three man move down the left hand side.  Just on the stroke of full time Jason Dwane just failed to connect from close in with a header from a corner that would have settled the issue. Extra time failed to produce a goal so it came down to a penalty shoot out with the five SKB penalties expertly put away by: Chris McMahon, Ben Donohoe, Enda Morris, Colm Greenan and Jeffrey Flood, Belvedere scored their first four penalties but their 5th effort struck the post and rebounded to safety. The final is in Dalymount Park on June 13th.

On Sunday morning Anto Devlin’s 15.2 finished their DDSL 15 A League campaign with a facile 7-0 victory over Cabinteely Boys at Shanowen Road as well as winning their League they went through the whole League campaign undefeated.  Great credit is due to all the players and the management team of Anto Devlin senior & junior and Paul Donnelly.

Not to be outdone our 15.3 wrapped up the DDSL 15 A1 League title when they got the point they needed from a tough away encounter at Markievizc Park against Drumfinn United with goals from Shane Downey from the penalty spot and Rob McGearty.  Again well done to all the players and Management team of John Hannon, John O’Neill & Denis Fitzpatrick.
