S K B 3  v  SEAVIEW CELTIC 1

Our AUL Premier A team were flattered by their 3-1 home Nivea Cup win against a hard working Seaview Celtic side at Shanowen Road.

Gareth Murphy put the home side ahead early in the first half and that was the way it remained until half time despite the visitors being under constant pressure throughout the half but they dealt comfortably enough with it.

Things changed in the second period with Seaview coming out in determined fashion from the start and they were level within five minutes through a goal from the penalty spot. They continued to press forward and had one or two half chances to take the lead but the addition of  Chris McMahon and Mark Cromwell to the home side added some thrust going forward and McMahon scored midway through the half – pouncing to head in a rebound following a good save from the Seaview ‘keeper from his initial effort. Gareth Murphy scoring his sixth goal of the week to wrap it up.

Also on the cup front our 11Premier moved into the next round of the DDSL Kavanagh Cup with a facile 6-0 home win over a brave Esker Celtic side.

League wins were recorded on Saturday by our 9A (2-1 away to Lourdes)) 12Premier (3-1 away to Shels) and 7.3 who celebrated their promotion to the A 1 division with a 4-0 win against Verona while the 13Premier took a point from their away game in Cherry Orchard to remain unbeaten this season.

The 11 and 13Major teams warmed up for vital SFAI Cup games to come with emphatic wins (3-0 away to Peamount) and (5-0 away to Cabinteely) respecively.

The 13Major have been going well since after Christmas  with a 3-0 win at home to Lucan, 7-0 win away to Kilnamanagh in SFAI Cup and a this week’s 3-0 away win to Cabinteely. According to managers Dave Molloy and Craig Morrissey the team are playing really well and these performances have been topped of by a Hat trick of Hat Tricks by Shane Carter who scored 3 goals in each of the last 3 games.

Two late goals (2-0) won the 16Premier the points at home to Malachys at Ward Cross – a similar scoreline at the same venue was enough to see the 17.3 win against Park Vale. 10 goals were scored in Rathmullen with the 15 Major coming out on top  (6-4) against Drogheda Boys and Ger Lostys 15.3 scored 8 away at Leixlip United. John Hannon’s 16.3 picked up a point in a 3-3 draw away to Palmerstown Rangers.

In the SSG on Sunday there were win for the 7A (6-1)  8A (2-1)  8.3 (6-1)                8.4 (4-1)     9A (4-1) 9.3(1-0)  9.4(2-1) and 10A(5-1).

A good weekend all round.
