SEASON UNDERWAY

Last Saturday and Sunday saw the 2010/11 Schoolboy season up and running with a fairly limited programme of games which were added to by a full midweek fixture list for Premier and Major teams.  Our 11 Premier took six points from their first two games which were home last Saturday to Crumlin (5-0) the scorers were Cian Farrell (2) Dara O’Shea, Shane Stokes & James Doran and home on Monday night to Malahide United (2-0) Evan Pierce and Ryan Graydon were the goal scorers.

Both the 12 and 14 Premier games at the weekend were off but the 12′s got into their stride on Monday night with a good 2-1 away win over Malahide United with goals from Nathan Noone-Garland & the winner from Jamie Gray, the 14′s began their season on Wednesday night in Tymon Park against Templeogue United with a facile 7-0 win.  The 13 Premier also got off to a good start by defeating Shelbourne F C on Saturday (2-1) at Shanowen Road a Richie Purdy penalty and a second half goal from Paddy Ojibura were enough to secure the three points, they followed this up on Wednesday night in Fairview Park beating Belvedere F C 5-1.

Our 14 Major also got off to a good start with an emphatic 6-2 away win over Cambridge Boys in Ringsend Park.  Sunday’s results were less impressive with the 15, 16 & 17 Premier all going down – 15 Premier despite a very good performance lost 1-0 at home to All Ireland Champions Cherry Orchard F C while Cherry Orchard F C also defeated our 16 Premier in the Lawn 4-0.  The 17′s played well for long spells away to Drogheda United but eventually went down 4-2.  The 17.2 drew 1-1 at home to Mountview Boys while the 17.3 lost at home 3-2 to Leicester Celtic.  The 15.3 won their first game 8-0 at home to Dundrum while the 16.3 found the step up to a higher league a bit difficult going down 4-2 at home to Shamrock Rovers.

Our First Team had a facile 8-1 win away over Dingle United in the AUL Liddy Cup while our Saturday side recorded their second win in a week – 2-0 away to Corduff United having beaten Kilbarrack United 2-1 in mid week.
