On a day when the Club presentation signalled the end of another very successful season at St Kevin’s Boys three of our teams were already engaged successfully over the weekend in competition for the new season in the Coca Cola Irish Cup at the AUL Complex.
Our under 14′s beat the NDAL 2 -0 to become the first winners of the under 14 Coca Cola Irish Cup and our under 15′s followed suit by winning the under 16 section 10 – 9 on penalties following a 0 – 0 draw against Shelbourne. Our under 13′s lost in their semi final 2 – 0 to Home Farm.
Six of our current under 16′s were in action in the Elite section of the Coca Cola Irish Cup with Shane Elworthy and Anto Breslin lining out for West Bromwich Albion who were defeated 1-0 by Reading in the final while Richie Purdy, Dan Tobin, Kurt Tuite and Derek Daly who played for Ireland.
All of the teams who won medals and cups last season were presented with their awards at the Club’s Annual Presentation yesterday in The Regency Hotel where Richard Sadlier was the guest of honour. A total of 21 teams received medals covering 28 competitions.
Special presentations were made to five players who have recently left St Kevin’s Boys to join Clubs in the UK – Jack Byrne (Manchester City), Alex O’Hanlon (Liverpool), Eoin Stokes (Leeds United), Philip Gannon (West Bromwich Albion) and Aaron Myles (Nottingham Forest)
