We were delighted to see Decky O’Hara get the winner for the Senior Premier team in their 1-0 victory over Ballymun United. Decky was thrilled to get the goal in the 80th minute and put an end to a lengthy Ballymun unbeaten run. Decky calmly slotted the ball home from inside the area following a great move involving Johnny Carroll, Gareth Murphy and Aaron Cameron. Donie Bermingham was quoted afterwards as saying that “the management of the team deserve huge praise for leaving Decky on the pitch”! Donie was also full of praise for goalkeeper Alan Cosgrove who pulled off a couple of top class saves to deny the opposition.

We have been told that after the clean up was completed on Easter Sunday the team of volunteers for the 50th Football Tournament retired to the Comet to enjoy a few well deserved refreshments and some great banter. The Aberdeen players’ parents were in attendance as their flight was not until Monday so naturally there was an integration process completed during the evening. A few were slow to leave and rumours abound of sore heads the next day!

Our 50th Anniversay book is on sale from the Clubhouse and the Comet for €10. For anyone who was ever involved with the Club it’s a treasure throve of memories.

Congratulations to Senior Premier team captain, Johnny Carroll who had the honour of captaining the Rep of Ireland Junior International team in Sardinia recently.

Good luck to our Over 35s who look to retain the Grimes Cup following a 5-2 victory in the semi finals recently. We hope that Paddy McKane is fit and well to play in the final following a collision early in the game that required stitches. If the final proves to be anything like last years game it will be well worth seeing.
