10.3′s Back on track

After suffering their first defeat of the season last week the 10.3 team were anxious to get back to winning ways against Castleknock Celtic and proved worthy winners in a comprehensive 5-1 win away from home.

The lads started well and went close a number of times. Then Adam Ennis put Patrick Moloney through on goal with a brilliant first time ball and Patrick buried the ball into the bottom corner with a blistering drive while the Castleknock keeper played ’moving statues’.
Kevin’s were now in control with the Enforcer Dylan O’Connell bossing matters in midfield while the Latin wizard Sergio Ganaza left his marker so dizzy he had to come off with twisted blood. Adam of course never wasted a pass and up front Sean Maguire was again showing some excellent neat touches with his first time lay offs and proving an excellent partner for the tireless Patrick.
At the back the lads were rarely in trouble with the captain and Prince of Defenders, Jack Murray in commanding form at the heart of defence. As usual Deco ‘bite yer legs’ Roche never lost a tackle or wasted a pass and Mr. Energy, Simon Gormley was having his usual brilliant game at full back flying up and down the left flank.
A few changes were made and the game entered the second half with Kevin’s looking for that elusive second goal that would seal the game. Luke Doyle started to influence the game with some deadly deliveries from set pieces and Jordan Leonard, the big man with the velvet touch was out of goal and up front.
On the left Ben Bosze, the lad with the best left foot out of Hungary since Ferenc Puskas was combining with Robbie Smith to great effect and this was the source of the second goal. Robbie played a superb through ball with his cultured left foot and Jordan arrived bravely before the Castleknock keeper to get the vital touch.
After that the lads cruised through the game with further goals from Robbie (rocket of a shot), Jordan and Luke confirming the win and leaving the Castleknock goal as a mere consolation.
Eoghan McCartan, another vital member of the squad unfortunately missed the game but is sure to be back among the goals in the next game after looking very sharp in training. Thankfully the game also saw the return of Sean O’Reilly for the last 15 minutes after a long absence due to illness. Sean looked assured and composed at the back and being the nephew of St Kevin’s legends Bugsy and Derek Lennon it will be no time before he is back to full fitness and playing as well as ever.
The lads now have an excellent record of 16 points from a possible 21 for the season and move onto the next game with the aim of a further 3 points to cement their position at the top of the table.
