style="color: #ff6600;">Last Thursday night our 18 Super’s season ended on a disappointing note when despite plenty of possession they had to come from 0-2, 2-3 and 4-3 behind during the game they eventually lost out in a sudden death penalty shoot out to Cherry Orchard F C in the final of the Leinster Youths Cup. Despite giving themselves these mountains to climb they came so close to pulling off a victory that their season deserved, two goals each from Cory Franzoni & Jason Murray had them level at the end of extra time in a pulsating game but when Cherry Orchard converted the 15th penalty of the night it brought to an end the 18′s season in which they have finished runners up in the three tournaments open to them – the DDSL Super League, the DDSL Ferrari Cup & the Leinster Youths Cup. Well done to managers Joe Byrne and Elliott Morgan and all the squad.

Our first teams interest in the AUL Nivea Cup was brought to an end by Sherriff Y C 0-2 their only interest now centres on the AUL Liddy Cup where again Sherriff Y C will be the opposition on a date yet to be confirmed.

Saturday brought some better news in the shape of our 12 DDSL Premier’s 4-2 win away to Belvedere F C which clinched them the League title with three games to spare. Great credit is due to Paudie O’Sullivan and Paul O’Dwyer and all the players.

Edenderry Town proved no match for our DDSL under 14 Premier squad in the final of the SFAI Goodson Cup at Whitehall. They dominated the entire game and could have won by much more but for some fine saves from Aaron O’Neill in the Edenderry goal who made 3 outstanding saves during the game. Captain Aaron Townley headed the 1st from a cross by Shane Stokes and Michael Creegan added a second just before half time, early in the second half Tristan Moran’s long cross deceived everybody and found it’s way into the net for the third. SKB goal keeper Dan Brennan made his first save of the game in the 65th minute – such was the dominance displayed by his team throughout. Full marks to Joe Quinn, Gareth Dodrill, Willie Burke, Frank Loftus and all the players on their second cup final win in a week and hopefully they can wrap up the 14 DDSL Premier League over the next 10 days.

On Saturday night at Peamount F C our 16 Premier were by far the better team throughout the 80 minutes of their DDSL McGrath cup final against Cherry Orchard F C and it was a shame that this fine performance was overshadowed by two disgraceful refereeing decisions the first of which ruled out an SKB goal in the first half and the second even more blatant where an obvious push on Anthony Breslin – who was the last defender – was left un-punished and allowed Cherry Orchard to score the winner with 5 minutes to go. The players and management first of all deserve great credit for their performance and more so for the degree of restraint they showed in the face of such adversity.

After a long league season Our 10.2 Sunday and our 11.3 Sunday have qualified for play offs in their respective leagues the 10′s for to win the league and the 11′s for the runners up spot. Our 11.2 Sunday having failed narrowly to win the DDSL Fitzgerald cup last week need just one more point from their remaining league games to win the DDSL 11 A1 Sunday.

Older posts;

Our under 17 Premier won their second major Cup title in a week when they again defeated Cherry Orchard F C 3-1 in the final of the DDSL PFAI Cup at the AUL Complex. They now turn their attention to their back log of League games which should they win them they would achieve a remarkable treble of all the titles open to them at their age group this season. Great credit is due to all the players and their coaching staff.

Victory in the Thunder Cup for our 14 Premier 3 -2 against Cherry Orchard F C where Evan Pearse and Mikey Creegan (2) were the goal scorers is the first leg of what could be a similar treble title at under 14,

For the second time in a week a 2-1 defeat knocked our 18 Super’s bid for a similar treble when they lost their final league game away to St Patricks Athletic where a win would have given them the league title by a point and the concession of two sloppy goals yesterday the first inside the first minute and the second five minutes from time from a penalty was enough to deny them victory in the DDSL Ferrari Cup final against Dundalk F C.

St Joseph’s Boys defeated both our 11 A1 Sunday team 1-0 after extra time in the final of the Paul Fitzgerald Cup and our 13 Premier team in a more emphatic fashion 4-1 in the final of the Liam Brady Cup.

FAI COACH EDUCATION – UPCOMING COURSES
<link

An innocuous looking shot from the edge of the box by centre-forward Adam Walsh took a deflection and deceived keeper Jack Brady and he could only watch in horror as the ball bobbled over the line off the post and into the net.

Three minutes later substitute Ryan Masterson looked to have put Cherry Orchard ahead when he swept the ball into the net after Brady had parried a shot but the assistant’s flag shot up immediately for offside and the goal was disallowed – a close call.

The three minutes of added on time had just commenced when SKB grabbed an unlikely winner as somehow they found themselves in a 3v1 break and Stephen Confrey showed great patience and coolness in drawing the keeper before slotting a low right-footed shot into the corner of the net to send the large group of SKB supporters into rapture.

But the drama wasn’t finished yet over-exuberant celebrations saw midfielder Cian Kavanagh receive a second yellow for removing his jersey, having been earlier booked for dissent they were now down to nine men. However Cherry Orchard’ two man numerical superiority only lasted a few seconds as from the re-start skipper Sean McGrane was shown a straight red for a dangerous tackle.

St Kevin’s managed to hold on for the remaining few minutes and referee Ciaran Redmond’s final whistle signalled the end of a dramatic final. St Kevin’s defender Sean Heany was named as the Umbro Man of the Match and the FAI U17 Cup was presented to St Kevin’s captain Ryan Robinson and vice captain Aaron Ashe by the chairman of the FAI Domestic Committee, Jim McConnell.

St Kevin’s Boy’s: Jack Brady; Gregory Sloggitt, Ryan Robinson, Sean Heaney, Jason Caffrey; Stephen Confrey, David Packenham, Cian Kavanagh, Dylan Kavanagh; Aaron Ashe, Evan Shine.
